Diktatorial Sold For 80,000gns

27th October 2005

DIKTATORIAL sold for 80,000gns yesterday at the Tattersalls Horses-in-Training Sale, an excellent return on his original purchase price of 45,000gns as a yearling.

Having won the Group 3 Somerville Tattersalls Stakes at Newmarket as a two-year-old, he provided plenty of fun and excitement for trainer Andrew Balding and the Tweenhills Thurloe Syndicate. He was purchased by Gerald Butler and he will probably go out to Dubai for the Spring Carnival.

Another Tweenhills horse to sell for a profit on the orginal purchase price was MALVERN LIGHT. This four-year-old filly was sold at Tattersalls Horses-in-Training Sale to US trainer Ron Charles for 30,000gns. She was purchased as a yearling for 22,000gns.

Second Win For Rampage

RAMPAGE won for the second time within two weeks when winning the Ladbrokes Breeders Cup Night Handicap over 7f at Wolverhampton on Saturday. Following up her win at Southwell on 17th October, and a second place at Windsor the week before.

New Yearlings For Tweenhills Racing

21st November 2005

Two promising yearlings were purchased at Doncaster St Leger Sales for Tweenhills Racing. One, a filly by sprinter Namid out of Swift Chorus, is the half sister to Presto Shinko who subsequently won the Ayr Gold Cup and the Wentworth Stakes (L) at Doncaster. Purchased for 21,000gns, she is immensely strong and will make a quality two-year-old sprinter with the scope to train on at three.

The other yearling purchased at Doncaster is a colt by exciting first-crop sire Kyllachy out of Manhattan Diamond. Purchased for 26,000gns, his half brother, Hidden Jewel, was beaten a head by Pivotal Flame in the DBS October Yearling Stakes. He looks extremely speedy, and should be ready to run early in the season. Both yearlings will be trained by Karl Burke.

In addition, a gorgeous filly by Zamindar out of Group 2 Cherry Hinton winner Torgau was purchased for €30,000 at Goffs for Tweenhills Racing. She has a wonderful action and the Goffs Fillies Five Hundred Race at the end of the season will be the perfect target for her. She will be trained by Hughie Morrison.

More details will be on the website soon or call us for further information.

Jumping Horses Getting Over Set Backs

16th December 2005

After slight set backs, both the Tweenhills Racing horses set to run under National Hunt Rules this winter are back in action.

Almah trained by Venetia Williams is doing gentle exercise, and Bredon Hill is pleasing her trainer Richard Phillips during morning exercise.

Both trainers have had an excellent winners strike rate recently, and we are hoping this will last the season.

Flat Horses Enjoying Their Break

The Namid filly is currently at Tweenhills and has been broken and ridden away. She will join trainer Karl Burke in the New Year. The Zamindar filly will be ridden away in the New Year before joining trainer Hughie Morrison.

Trained by Stuart Williams, this three-year-old filly by Bertolini was retained from the Countryside Alliance Racing Club. She was originally purchased by David Redvers as a yearling for only 5,000gns from Tattersalls October Sale for the Racing Club. She is the half-sister to the prolific scorer Chateau Nicol.

Horses Settling Back Well With Trainers

7th February 2006

Our star Listed winning filly, Clare Hills, has been back with her trainer Karl Burke for a few weeks now and is progressing in her fitness very well. Another 2005 multiple winner, Rampage, is also pleasing her trainer, William Haggas, since returning in January.

The two-year-olds with Karl Burke, Namid ex Swift Chorus and Kyllachy ex Manhattan Diamond, have been cantering nicely with the rest of the string. The Kyllachy colt is certainly going to be an early type and should prove an exciting horse to follow when the flat turf season starts in the Spring.

Kyllachy Two-year-old Colt Looks Early Type

22nd February 2006

The Kyllachy colt running under the new Tweenhills racing syndicate, Tweenhills Racing VII, continues to show a lot of promise on the gallops for trainer Karl Burke. This two-year-old is certainly one to keep an eye out for at the start of the Flat turf season and is currently aimed at the Brocklesby.

The two fillies owned by this syndicate are also progressing well. The two-year-old by Namid is cantering nicely with the rest of the string at Karl Burke's. The Zamindar ex Torgau filly is being ridden at Tweenhills and will soon go into training with Hughie Morrison.

A few shares are still available in the syndicate at £6,560 each.

Rampage Retired To Stud

6th March 2006

RAMPAGE has been retired to stud at Tweenhills where she will be covered by first season sire Trade Fair.

By Pivotal this five-year-old filly won twice for the Tweenhills Racing VI syndicate and trainer William Haggas since being purchased by David Redvers for only 11,000gns at Tattersalls July Sales 2005 having won her maiden.

Meanwhile, Sprinkle has returned to Whitsbury Manor Stables to be trained by Ralph Beckett who has moved there following David Elsworth's move to Newmarket.

Bredon Hill Gains Invaluable Racing Experience

14th March 2006

Bredon Hil gained invaluable racing experience when running under rules for the first time in the Mares' Only Maiden NH Flat Race over 2m at Warwick on 12th March. Although she lacked the pace to go with the leaders in the last half mile she ran on strongly in the final two furlongs to give the indication that she will stay further.

Trainer Richard Phillips was thrilled with the way she took in her first race under rules and is hopeful she will pick up a race or two for her owners - the Tweenhills Racing (Bredon Hill) Syndicate.

Cheltenham Festival Breakfast

17th March 2006

Tweenhills Racing Syndicate owners and other shareholders in bloodstock at Tweenhills enjoyed a champagne breakfast at the Stud on Wednesday 15th March. It was just the thing to start the day before heading to the Cheltenham Festival down the road.

Almah Finishes Third

10th April 2006

Almah finished third in the John Smith's Race Club Handicap Hurdle over 2m4f at Chepstow on 8th April for the Peter Deal and Tweenhills NH Syndicate.

She raced handily for much of the race before making a mistake at the last flight in the back straight but ran on well afterwards. She did look fantastic in the paddock and overall ran a good race. She will now go novice chasing once the new season starts.

Shares Available In Two High Class 2yos Aiming For Royal Ascot

27th April 2006

Shares are available in two high class 2yos who were purchased at the recent Breeze-Up Sales by David Redvers in partnership with trainers Karl Burke and Michael Bell.

The first, Lot 165 from Doncaster, is a stunning daughter of Mull of Kintyre, and a half sister to winning 2yo MYSTIFIED out of a half sister to high class sprinting filly MARCH STAR (Phoenix Stakes Gr.3).

Purchased for 20,000gns from leading vendor Mocklershill Stables, she breezed very easily recording a very fast time. Karl Burke is training her and loves what he sees, already there are plans to run her in three weeks.

The other 2yo purchased with the aim of taking Tweenhills Racing to Royal Ascot was a Monashee Mountain colt from Tattersalls (Lot 198). He is the half brother to Easter Stakes (L) winner PELHAM. A really athletic horse, he easily produced the most impressive time at Tattersalls.

Michael Bell and David bought him as a 'must have' and he has already been impressing all to see on the Newmarket gallops. He was purchased for 82,000gns from Bansha House Stables, who were responsible for the Sale's two Gr.1 wins last season.

More information will be on the website soon, in the meantime contact David Redvers on 07767 436373.

Vale Of Belvoir Runs At Leicester Today

30th May 2006

Recent Doncaster Breeze-Up purchase VALE OF BELVOIR has been showing plenty of promise at home and hopes are high she will perform well on her debut in a maiden at Leicester today for Tweenhills Racing IX.

Trainer Karl Burke believes this Mull Of Kintyre two-year-old filly is very similar to Listed winner CLARE HILLS.

In respect of the other Tweenhills' two-year-olds, CHURCHTOWN is back in full work having been gelded and is likely to run in June. SWIFT PRINCESS is making steady progress, growing into a big filly who looks like being a sprinting prospect. KNAPTON HILL continues to improve and is in light work. FUJI is in great form, fit and really well and will target a 7f race in due course.

Vale Of Belvoir Second On Debut

31st May 2006

VALE OF BELVOIR put up a real battle against the experienced Top Royelle to just come off second in the EBF ladbrokes.com Maiden Fillies' Stakes over 5f at Leicester yesterday.

She will come on for the run and looks a very exciting prospect for trainer Karl Burke. A 20,000gns purchase from Doncaster Breeze-Up Sales she looks sure to provide a very quick return on the investment made by owners Tweenhills Racing IX and S Marley.

Tweenhills To Sponsor Warwickshire Oaks

9th June 2006

Tweenhills Farm & Stud is delighted to announce that it will sponsor the reinstated Listed £28,000 Warwickshire Oaks over 1m3f at Warwick Racecourse on Monday 19th June.

Tweenhills stud manager, David Redvers, said: “We have sponsored this race in recognition of all the hard work undertaken by the team at Tweenhills this busy breeding season. An evening at the races for everyone is just a small token of our appreciation for their high level of commitment and enthusiasm.

In this our 10th season we have finally achieved two long held ambitions; breeding a Royal Ascot two-year-old winner in Flashy Wings, and standing proper stallions that suit the needs of every commercial breeder. An achievement that could not have been made without our experienced team.”

Huw Williams, Warwick Racecourse managing director said: “We are delighted at Warwick Racecourse that Tweenhills Stud has chosen to sponsor the first running of the Warwickshire Oaks as a Listed Race. It seems most appropriate that such a successful and progressive stud should be connected with a very exciting addition to our flat racing programme.”

Success For Vale Of Belvoir On Second Run

9th June 2006

VALE OF BELVOIR battled hard to win the Stapleton Maiden Auction Fillies' Stakes over 5f at Catterick today. Following up her game second to the experienced and well regarded Top Royelle on her debut at Leicester.

Trainer Karl Burke felt that the track didn't really suit her and that she will definitely come on for the run.

A 20,000gns purchase by David Redvers from Doncaster Breeze-Up Sales she is already providing a very quick return on the investment made by owners Tweenhills Racing IX and S Marley.

Group 2 Win For Tweenhills First-crop Sire Ishiguru

20th June 2006

HELLVELYN produced a class act to take the Group 2 Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot today, the first 2yo Group 2 race of the season. Proving that his first-crop sire Ishiguru, a Tweenhills Farm and Stud stallion, clearly has the ability to produce an outstanding horse.

Congratulations to trainer Bryan Smart and owner HE Sheikh Rashid Bin Mohammed. Also breeders NE & Mrs Poole and Trickledown Stud.

Hellvelyn is the eighth foal out of Cumbrian Melody, who has produced six other winners notably the Listed Carnarvon Stakes second Golden Bounty. Cumbrian Melody sadly died earlier this year, the day after producing a filly foal by Lucky Story. The filly is doing well with a foster mare. The mare's yearling is by another Tweenhills stallion, Fraam.

Hellvelyn was sold to Bryan Smart for 100,000gns at Doncaster St Leger Yearling Sales. He has now won three times, having won on his debut and at Pontefract in his preparation for this Royal Ascot win.

Fuji Debut Success

30th June 2006

The two-year-old colt, FUJI, provided another win for Tweenhills Racing when landing the seven furlong juvenile at Folkestone today on his debut. Making it a 100% winners to runners success rate for Tweenhills Racing IX, following Vale Of Belvoir's win earlier this month.

He has always showed lots of promise on the gallops at home for trainer Michael Bell and is sure to go on to better things having ran very green. He was Michael Bell's first 2yo debut winner since Motivator won his maiden in August 2004.

By Monashee Mountain he is a half brother to Easter Stakes (L) winner Pelham. He was purchased at Tattersalls Breeze-Up Sales by David and Michael Bell for 82,000gns.

Clare Hills Promising Run In Listed Race

10th July 2006

CLARE HILLS ran her best race this season to finish fourth in the Land O'Burns Stakes (Listed) over 5f at Ayr yesterday for the Tweenhills Freedom Racing syndicate.

Trainer Karl Burke was pleased with the run and felt that there is more improvement to come. She will hopefully pick up a black type race in the autumn, once there is more ease in the ground, to add to her two-year-old Listed success.

Vale Of Belvoir Hacks Up Again

17th July 2006

VALE OF BELVOIR won her second race in succession on Friday evening at Chester. She impressed from the off, quickening in the final furlong and pulling clear to win by over a length being eased down. Her performance was certainly impressive, particularly as she was the least experienced.

Trainer Karl Burke will now find another nursery for her before stepping her up in better class.

A 20,000gns purchase by David Redvers from Doncaster Breeze-Up Sales she is already providing a very quick return on the investment made by owners Tweenhills Racing IX and S Marley.

Holdin Foldin Pulls Clear By 17 Lengths

19th July 2006

HOLDIN FOLDIN had little more than an exercise gallop in coming home with 17 lengths to spare in the Simpson and Gregg Ltd Novice Auction Stakes over 6f at Newcastle yesterday for Tweenhills Racing and P Timmins & J Rhodes.

Trainer Karl Burke was pleased with the result as it had put Holdin Foldin back in winning ways following his debut win and confirmed his class. Purchased by David Redvers at Tattersalls (Ireland) September Yearling Sale for €16,000, he is likely to step up to Stakes class soon.

Another Tweenhills' horse, SWIFT PRINCESS, got a big upgrade to her pedigree when her half brother, Presto Shinko, won the Group 3 Prix de Ris-Orange at Maisons-Laffitte on 15th July.

Sprinkle Finishes An Unlucky Third

1st August 2006

SPRINKLE ran her best race to finish an unlucky third in the 6f Maiden at Salisbury on 29th July for owners Tweenhills Racing V. She was slowly away and was short of room when trying to make her run 2f out. Despite this, she ran on strongly in the final furlong to be finishing best of all and was only beaten a length by the winner.

Trainer, Ralph Beckett, was really pleased with her run and her handicap mark will determine her next target.

Hat Trick For Vale Of Belvoir

7th August 2006

VALE OF BELVOIR produced an impressive turn of speed to cut down the leaders and comfortably win the 5f Hertel Nursery Handicap at Thirsk on 5th August. This was her third win on the trot. Jockey Pat Cosgrave could not believe how much speed she had.

Trainer, Karl Burke, was also thrilled and she now heads for the Listed St Hugh's Stakes at Newbury later this month. By Mull of Kintyre this two-year-old filly was a 20,000gns purchase by David Redvers from Doncaster Breeze-Up Sales. She is certainly providing plenty of fun for owners Tweenhills Racing IX and S Marley.

Holdin Foldin Books Ticket For Listed Target

12th August 2006

HOLDIN FOLDIN won his third race yesterday at Lingfield in the 5f Novices Stakes, and booked his ticket for a tilt at the Listed Roses Stakes at York later this month.

He shaped like a real professional, and trainer Karl Burke was really pleased with the result and can't wait to get him back on grass. Purchased by David Redvers at Tattersalls (Ireland) September Yearling Sale for €16,000, he is proving a great servant to owners Tweenhills Racing and P Timmins & J Rhodes.

Ishiguru - Leading First-season Sire In Britain

14th August 2006

Tweenhills’ stallion Ishiguru has got off to a flying start, currently ranking first in the list of first-season sires standing in Britain by progeny earnings, and third overall in Europe.

He rates above the likes of Rock of Gibraltar, Kyllachy and Johannesburg, whilst the two stallions ranked higher than him in Europe covered over twice the number of mares.

Royal Ascot Group 2 Coventry Stakes winner and Group 1 Phoenix Stakes second, Hellvelyn, is the leading earner, with several other two-year-olds also making their mark. Ishi Adiva stayed on strongly to come second in the 5f Weatherbys Super Sprint and take home £30,000. And a Stakes race is the likely target for Ferneley who comfortably won his last two races in Ireland.

Vale Of Belvoir Picks Up Black Type

21st August 2006

Vale Of Belvoir picked up some well deserved black type when coming second to Abby Road in the St Hugh's Stakes (L) at Newbury this weekend.

Trainer Karl Burke was really pleased with her performance and believes she has earned her chance to move up to Group company. A possible target is the Flying Childers Stakes (Gr.2).

Another Tweenhills Racing horse, Holdin Foldin, also came second at the weekend, in a Conditions Stakes at Ripon. Trainer, Karl Burke, said the ground and the undulations on the track were not in his favour.

Sleeping Indian To Stand At Tweenhills

14th September 2006

Hungerford Stakes winner SLEEPING INDIAN - who is set to contest Friday's Dubai Duty Free Cup at Newbury en route to a tilt at the Group 1 Prix de la Foret - is to retire at the end of this year to take up stallion duties at Tweenhills Farm and Stud.

The son of Indian Ridge will be leased back to his owner-breeder George Strawbridge for the remainder of his racing career.

Trained by John Gosden, Sleeping Indian won a Windsor maiden by six lengths on his debut and went on to Listed successes in the Ben Marshall Stakes at Newmarket and the John Of Gaunt Stakes at Haydock, where those beaten included Quito and Welsh Emperor.

After finishing a good fifth in last season's Group 1 Sussex Stakes at Goodwood, he impressively won the Hungerford Stakes at Newbury, which was upgraded to Group 2 status this year after Sleeping Indian's victory when he beat a high-class field including Majors Cast, multiple Group-1 winner Attraction and Nayyir.

He narrowly went down in a photo to Iffraaj in the Group 2 Park Stakes at Doncaster, when three lengths clear of subsequent Group 1 winner Court Masterpiece, and - after fifth place in the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes - rounded last year off with an excellent second in the Group 2 Challenge Stakes at Newmarket. At the end of the 2005 season, he was rated 122 by Timeform, who described him as a "strong, good-topped colt and a very smart performer."

Sleeping Indian's sire Indian Ridge has some exciting sons at stud, including Namid, Compton Place and Domedriver while his Group 1-placed dam Las Flores has produced four stakes winners.

Sleeping Indian is being targeted at the Group 1 Prix de la Foret at Longchamp on September 30 and trainer John Gosden said today: "From the moment Sleeping Indian arrived in the yard he looked top-class. He is a correct, powerful horse with a fabulous temperament and his target is the Group 1 Prix de la Foret before an exciting stud career beckons."

David Redvers added: "We are thrilled to have acquired Sleeping Indian. He's the complete package - stunning to look at, he boasts a superb pedigree and has consistently shown an outstanding level of form."

A maximum of 20 shares will be sold in Sleeping Indian and a fee has yet to be set. He will join a Tweenhills stallion roster in 2007 that also includes Ishiguru, Trade Fair, Lucky Story and Fraam.

Sleeping Indian Wins Dubai Duty Free Cup

15th September 2006

SLEEPING INDIAN proved a shrewd stallion purchase for Tweenhills when holding on to take the Listed Dubai Duty Free Cup over 7f at Newbury today.

It was also a fine training performance by John Gosden. Sleeping Indian will now be targeted at the Group 1 Prix de la Foret on 30th September.

Holdin Foldin Gains Black-type

15th September 2006

HOLDIN FOLDIN finished second in the 5f Listed Harry Rosebery Stakes today at Ayr for the Tweenhills Racing syndicate.

He broke well and was switched from the outside to the stands side in order to get the rail. He managed to get across quick enough to lead well into the final furlong to only be collared by the winner, Alzerra, in the final half furlong.

Trainer Karl Burke was thrilled with the performance and thought that he was right back to his best after his disappointing runs at York and Ripon. “It was the draw that got him beat” Karl said.

Holdin Foldin also looked fantastic before the race and this was a smart performance as he had to use a lot of speed to get across to the rail, in ground that is not his perfect surface. Jockey Pat Cosgrave felt that Holdin Foldin has further improvement to come.

Black-type Performers Off To Sales

19th October 2006

The Tweenhills Racing speedy duo Holdin Foldin and Vale of Belvoir both followed up their hat trick of wins with some well deserved black-type.

As previously reported Holdin Foldin finished second in the 5f Listed Harry Rosebery Stakes at Ayr, to subsequent Group 3 Cornwallis Stakes winner Alzerra. He now heads to Tattersalls Autumn Horses-in-Training Sales.

Vale of Belvoir came second to Abby Road in the Listed St Hugh's Stakes over 5f at Newbury. She also has form against the smartest two-year-olds this season, and may head for the December Sales.

Two-year-old Listed winner Clare Hills is another Tweenhills Racing horse heading for the Tattersalls December Sales and should make an excellent broodmare prospect.

Other Tweenhills Racing horses heading for Tattersalls Autumn Horses-in-Training Sales next week include winner Fuji, Knapton Hill and Sprinkle.

Tweenhills Racing Update

30th November 2006

The last month has seen various changes in the horses owned by Tweenhills Racing now the season has come to an end.

Clare Hills realised 65,000gns at the Tattersalls Breeding Stock Sales, a great return on the €35,000 paid for her as a yearling. She was purchased by Paul Gardener, a small-owner breeder from Hampshire, who has a stud farm that will look after her to the highest standard. Others to be sold at the sales include Fuji, Knapton Hill and Sprinkle.

Black type performer Holdin Foldin will be retained as a three-year-old by Tweenhills Racing, as will the promising Vale of Belvoir, Swift Princess and Churchtown.

New Recruits For Tweenhills Racing

15th December 2006

Shares in promising recruits for Tweenhills Racing were purchased by David Redvers at the recent yearling sales. These include a stunning filly by Xaar out of the Danehill mare Talah, to be trained by Chris Wall in Newmarket. A 68,000gns purchase from Tattersalls, she is the half-sister to multiple winner Ceremonial Jade.

A filly by Trans Island out of Stakes perfomer Velvet Appeal, the own sister to Sapieha, will be trained by Sir Mark Prescott, also in Newmarket. This half-sister to three winners was a €42,000 from Goffs.

Trainer Ralph Beckett has been very successful with horses for Tweenhills. In 2007 he will train the own sister to Group 3 winner and Cheveley Park fourth, Golden Legacy, for the racing syndicate. By Rossini out of Dissidentia, she was also purchased from Goffs for €42,000.

More details will be on this website soon, in the meantime contact us or the Tweenhills Racing Syndicate Manager, Clive Webb-Carter, on 07860 158645. Also watch out for news on more horses to run for Tweenhills Racing in 2007.

Fillies Back In Work

21st January 2007

The Tweenhills Racing fillies, VALE OF BELVOIR and SWIFT PRINCESS, are now back in work following their winter break.

Black-type perfomer, VALE OF BELVOIR, was a smart two-year-old and it is hoped she will train on to be an equally good three-year-old. Trainer Karl Burke will take it slowly with her as she needs top of the ground. Karl is also happy with the way SWIFT PRINCESS has wintered and is hopeful she will win a nice race.

All the new two-year-olds are also coming on well with their respective trainers.

Fillies In Fine Form

22nd February 2007

The trainers of the two-year-old fillies owned by Tweenhills Racing have given recent glowing reports.

The Xaar filly out of a Danehill mare is moving well cantering with Chris Wall's string. Sir Mark Prescott is delighted with the filly by Trans Island who is now doing two canters. The own sister to Group 3 winner, Goden Legacy, is looking a forward type and also doing plenty of cantering reports Ralph Beckett.

Four shares at £6,500 each are still available, contact Syndicate Manager Clive Webb-Carter on 07860 158645.

New 2yos Named

23rd March 2007

The three new two-year-olds running for Tweenhills XI have now all been named, and are progressing well with their respective trainers.

The most precocious at the moment is the filly by Rossini out of Dissidentia who has been named DISSONANCE. Trainer Ralph Beckett is really pleased with her and hopes she will make her debut in May.

Another filly who may make her debut in May is GOLDEN BUTTON. This is the filly by Trans Island out of Velvet Appeal in training with Sir Mark Prescott. He reports her to be very easy to train and she is now doing two canters with the most forward bunch of two-year-olds in his yard.

The final two-year-old, the Xaar filly out of the Danehill mare Talah, has been named XANDRA. Trainer Chris Wall feels she could be a useful sort and should be on the racecourse in early summer.

Older Horses Going Nicely

24th March 2007

Black-type perfomer VALE OF BELVOIR is still in light work but as there are no suitable races until the summer trainer Karl Burke is not going to rush her.

Another Tweenhills three-year-old filly, SWIFT PRINCESS, is working well and should be the first of our older horses to run this year, possibly in April. Karl Burke also reports that CHURCHTOWN is looking great and moving nicely.

Swift Princess Makes 3yo Debut

13th May 2007

SWIFT PRINCESS made a promising start to her three-year-old campaign when coming third in the 6f Maiden at Thirsk last night despite not getting a clear run. She is sure to come on for the run and break her maiden soon for trainer Karl Burke and owners Tweenhills Racing VII and Denis Fahan.

Second For Swift Princess

19th June 2007

SWIFT PRINCESS ran a good race to come second in the 6f Fillies' Handicap Stakes at Warwick last night, at which Tweenhills Farm & Stud also sponsored the feature race of the evening ‘The Warwickshire Oaks’.

Swift Princess has now been placed on every outing this season so is sure to pick up a race before long. This added to the fact that her half-brother, Presto Shinko, was again Listed-placed on Sunday will ensure her pedigree retains its value.

Other Tweenhills Racing fillies showing promise at home include the 2006 hat trick winning and Stakes performing filly, VALE OF BELVOIR, who is now back in full work with trainer Karl Burke. She will be out in July when there are more suitable races for her. XANDRA continues to go nicely for trainer Chris Wall and will make her debut soon.

Ishiguru - Leading Second-crop Sire In Europe

20th July 2007

Three winners in two days has helped put the Tweenhills Farm & Stud stallion, ISHIGURU, right at the top of the league table for second-crop sires in Europe in order of percentage of winners to runners.

With 39.5% winners to runners he is now way ahead of notable sires such as Invincible Spirit (29.7%), Kyllachy (28.9%) and Val Royal (26.1%).

Add to that his major Stakes performers, Hellvelyn, She's Our Mark and Ferneley, produced from relatively small crops compared to these sires noted, Ishiguru is shaping into a top quality proven sire.

His latest winners included Dee Jay Wells at Beverley, the two-year-old Silver Wind won at Folkestone, and Gentle Guru won again, this time at Sandown, having also been second three times. Trainer of Gentle Guru, Richard Phillips, will now look for a race at Goodwood for this consistent performer.

Add to that his major Stakes performers, Hellvelyn, She's Our Mark and Ferneley, Ishiguru is shaping into a top quality proven sire.

Earlier in the week DEE JAY WELLS scored at Beverley, the two-year-old SILVER WIND won at Folkestone, and GENTLE GURU won again, this time at Sandown, having also been second three times.

There is no stopping the recent success of progeny by Tweenhills' stallion ISHIGURU with two more winners yesterday.

The two-year-old colt, THE REAL GURU, ran on well to comfortably take the 5f Maiden at Pontefract and should progress to better things for owner/ breeders Adrian and Alison Parry.

The second winner, COPPER KING, bounced back to winning form in style when easily taking the 7f Claiming Stakes at Carlisle.

Deserved Win For Swift Princess

6th August 2007

Tweenhills Racing's SWIFT PRINCESS just got the nod in a close finish when taking the 6f Arena Options Handicap at Haydock on 3rd August. This three-year-old filly has been very consistent, coming second twice and third twice in her previous four races this season, so really deserved the win.

Both trainer Karl Burke and jockey Dale Gibson were delighted with the performance, and felt there was another race in her at a slightly higher grade.

Tweenhills Stallion Ishiguru - Leading British-based Sire

10th August 2007

A phenomenal run of eight winners in 13 days by Ishiguru progeny in July ensured his position at the top of the league table for British-based sires in order of percentage of winners to runners. Ahead of other top sires such as Dansili, Rainbow Quest, Pivotal and Green Desert.

This Tweenhills stallion also rates 7th out of all sires standing in Europe.

With an incredible 45.45% winners to runners, Ishiguru is way ahead of other notable second-crop sires in Europe such as Sakhee (40%), Rock of Gibraltar (33%), Invincible Spirit (32%), Kyllachy (31%) and Val Royal (27%).

Add to that his Stakes performers, Hellvelyn, Ferneley, and She's Our Mark, who was recently second again in a Stakes race, Ishiguru is shaping into a top quality proven sire. Not bad for a sire who stood at only £4,500 this season.

Statistics based on results received to 7th August 2007 and a minimum of 30 runners, as provided by Hyperion Promotions.

Swift Princess Completes Double

21st August 2007

SWIFT PRINCESS was as easy a winner as you could want, storming home to take the 6f Jackie Woolman Handicap at Leicester on 20th August, following up her win at Haydock earlier in the month. A geat result for Tweenhills Racing VII.

The first thing jockey, Jamie Spencer, said when coming into the un-saddling enclosure is that: “I should give back my riding fee as it does not get any easier than that." The fact that the race at Haydock she won previously looks to be working out well gives the indication that Swift Princess is still very much on the up-grade.

Trainer Karl Burke was delighted with the result and is now looking for a race (handicap) in the very near future as she is will go up at least 6lbs for the win. Swift Princess looks to be ahead of the handicapper and could turn out to be a mid 80’s filly.

Consistently Swift

22nd September 2007

SWIFT PRINCESS continues to keep in the frame for her owners Tweenhills Racing VII and Denis Fehan, just being beaten by a short head into second in the 5f HBG Properties Handicap at Ayr yesterday. Following up her wins at Haydock and Leicester for trainer Karl Burke.

Winter Holidays Are Here

2nd November 2007

SWIFT PRINCESS has finished for the season and has been turned away to have a rest for the winter. Trainer Karl Burke will have her back in the New Year in order to have her ready for the start of the season in March. She finished the season on an Official Handicap Mark of 81, so we are hopeful she can progess next year and earn some black-type.

Another Tweenhills filly to have finished for the season is XANDRA, who has returned to Tweenhills for a break. She has shown alot of promise at home on the gallops for trainer Chris Wall so we are also looking forward to an enjoyable season with her in 2008. The two-year-old Golden Button is also resting at Tweenhills and will return to trainer Sir Mark Prescott in the New Year.

The remaining Tweenhills Racing 'Flat' horses, DISSONANCE and VALE OF BELVOIR were sold at the recent Horses-in-Training Sales.

Impressive Hurdling Debut For Colisay

30th November 2007

COLISAY made an impressive hurdling debut to win by four lengths the fastest division of the Novices’ Hurdle at Uttoxeter on 29th November for Tweenhills Racing X.

Trainer Venetia Williams was very pleased with the result and he looks a nice prospect for the future. A useful Flat performer he was coming back after a break of 572 days, having been purchased by David Redvers at Tattersalls July Sales in 2006 for 16,000gns. He has come out of his race in good order so be sure to follow him this NH season.

Warming Up For The New Flat Season

31st January 2008

The three Tweenhills fillies have all started their training preparations for the new Flat season.

The extremely consistent SWIFT PRINCESS, who has won twice and been placed five times, has returned to trainer Karl Burke. She is looking in fine condition having done very well for her winter break. She has just started light canter work following time doing lots of trotting.

GOLDEN BUTTON has gone back to her trainer Sir Mark Prescott. She has been doing light work for the last month at Tweenhills in preparation and is looking in good order.

XANDRA's trainer Chris Wall reports “Xandra is well. She has been doing plenty of trotting during January and all being well will begin cantering towards the end of next week. She did herself well while at Tweenhills and is carrying plenty of condition, which is a good thing at this stage.”

Fillies In Good Form

5th March 2008

The three Tweenhills Racing fillies are all in good form in their preparations for the forthcoming Flat Season according to their respective trainers.

Sir Mark reports that GOLDEN BUTTON is doing strong canters at the moment and he is extremely pleased with her progress. He hopes that she will be making her racecourse debut by the beginning of May.

Chris Wall reports that XANDRA is also doing well. She spent most of February doing long slow canters and then began using Warren Hill last week. Yesterday she did her first strong canter in a group and that went well. She should start galloping in two to three weeks.

SWIFT PRINCESS is in good form reports her trainer Karl Burke. She has filled out well over the winter and Karl is excited about her prospects for the 2008 season. Currently she is working well when doing pieces of work (strong canters) on the bridle, and is pencilled in for a few races in April.
