Bay filly 2007 by HERNANDO ex I C CINDY (GALLAPIAT)

Purchase price: €40,000 Arqana Deauville October Yearling Sale - 2008

Tweenhills Racing Ownership: 25%

Trainer: John Hammond, Chantilly, France

I bought this filly on spec in Deauville and within minutes had agreed to sell 25% of her to legendary French based English trainer John Hammond (trainer of numerous Gr.1 winners including Montjeu, Dolphin Street, Polar Falcon and Imperial Beauty).

Her sire is responsible for Oak's winner Look Here and her dam is a multiple stakes winner, and previously she would have made 3 times the €40,000 I paid for her here.  She is an absolute star and we have broken her in at Tweenhills with a plan to send her to Chantilly in mid February.  She could be absolutely anything and is as exciting a filly as we have ever put into training.

Pedigree Notes

This Hernando filly is out of the multiple US stakes winner I C Cindy, whose victory included the Calder Oaks over 9f at Calder, California. I C Cindy has produced one winner to date from her only runner. Sisu, bred on the same cross as this filly being by the Nijinsky sire Royal Academy, won at Saint-Cloud at three-years and has been placed 7 times between two and three years. I C Cindy’s pedigree traces back to one of France’s leading families in that the Prix de Maurice de Gheest (Gr.3 – now a Gr 1) winner and 1,000 Guineas runner-up Girl Friend, Prix Ganay (Gr.1) winner Execute and Champion Stakes (Gr.1) winner Tel Quel are all from it.

The sire Hernando, a son of Nijinsky‘s St Leger winner Niniski, was winner of both the Prix Jockey-Club (Gr.1) and the Prix Lupin (Gr.1). Hernando has proved to be one of the leading middle distance sires standing in Europe. With his 2008 runners no exception having sired this season’s Oaks Stakes (Gr.1) winner in Look Here as well as the Derby Stakes (Gr.1) runner-up Casual Conquest (Gr.2). Other notable stakes winners include Arc (Gr.1) winner and sire Sulamani and Prix Jockey-Club (Gr.1) winner Holding Court.
